Irina Criveț is a PhD candidate at the Koç University Public Law programme, where she researches the dynamics of compliance with international human rights law. She earned a BA in Public Administration with high honours from Ovidius University of Constantza, Romania in 2013, and an LL.M. in International Law from Koç University in 2016. Her master’s thesis, “Implementing the General Measures of the European Court of Human Rights Judgments: A Case Study of Moldova”, was written under the supervision of Professor Başak Çalı.

She is also a reporter on the Human Rights Law reporting project for Oxford Public International Law hosted by Koc University’s Centre for Global Public Law, and a Newton PhD fellow on the British Academy-funded project “The Effects of International Human Rights Law on Public International Law and its Sub-Branches.” In summer 2016, she was a Visiting PhD Student at the Human Rights Center, Essex University; she also participated in the Essex Human Rights Summer School on Research Methods.

Irina’s primary research interests lie in the field of international human rights law, with a focus on domestic implementation and compliance with the decisions of regional and international judicial and quasi-judicial authorities. She has researched topics under comparative constitutional law.
