CGPL has joined the “Domestic Impact of the UN Human Rights Treaty System” study led by Prof. Christof Heyns and Prof. Frans Viljoen of the Centre for Human Rights at the University of Pretoria in collaboration with the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights as a collaborating institution.

The research team composed of Prof. Dr. Başak Çalı, Ph.D. researchers Betül Durmuş and İlayda Eskitaşçıoğlu will contribute to this global study by investigating the impact of UN Human Rights Treaties in Türkiye.

Based on a research framework of Heyns and Viljoen, researchers from 20 countries are investigating whether the UN human Rights Treaties has an influence on the constitution, legislation or policies of the country in question, whether the treaties have been cited in the courts and whether they are covered in the university curricula or media. The global study aims to contribute to the UN Human Rights Treaty Body Review 2020.
